We are a conservative Southern Baptist Church that believes in living by the inerrant Word of God. We desire to reach the lost, hurting, and confused with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to place all Christians into ministry. We are casual in attire and passionate in our worship of Almighty God. Town East Baptist Church exists to Capture the Culture of Christ (Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8).
A Brief History Of Town East Baptist Church
TEBC began as a mission of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church on August 7, 1960. TEBC moved into its current location on January 4, 1962 and was constituted into a church on September 16, 1962 with 253 members.
Since its beginning TEBC has been served by eight pastors.
Bro. Rudy Bouland served as mission pastor from August 7, 1960 until November 1, 1961.
Bro. Berl Cavin served as pastor from January 1, 1962, until he resigned to become director of Missions for the Dallas Baptist Association in 1970.
The other pastors who have left their mark on our church and community are Bro. Bob Colton, Bro. John Beard, Bro. Arville Senter, Dr. Jim Byrd, and Bro. Ken Brownd. Bro. Ken and his family left to serve as Southern Baptist Missionaries in Croatia; they are now serving in Poland.
Bro. Bobby Deets has served as our pastor since August 27, 2000.
The following paragraph is taken from a TEBC publication circa 1968, but the words still hold true today:
The history of Town East Baptist Church cannot be told in terms of buildings and staff members and growth. The greatest human asset we have is a hardworking core of faithful dedicated Christian men and women who sacrificially give of self and substance to God through our church. This, along with the direction of God’s spirit, has made Town East Baptist Church what she has been, what she is, and what she shall continue to be.
